| INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW |
|
|
With substantial numbers of the U.S.
workforce expected to retire over the next five years,
it is critically important to develop the next generation
of public and private leaders. There will be many opportunities
in the public and private sectors for students who have
the skills and knowledge employers need. VTTP internships
provide students first-hand experience in the working
world and help them understand where the opportunities
lie and how to prepare to take advantage of them.
|
| Program Goals
|
- Provide experiential
training opportunities to help students prepare for
future employment, and thereby provide a highly skilled
and fully diverse workforce to enable the United States
to compete successfully in the global economy of the
21st century and beyond.
- Create a pool of
highly skilled, diverse candidates, thus establishing
a pipeline into student employment programs and entry
level positions. This pipeline will facilitate the
succession planning employers must do to maintain
their abilities to perform their missions and meet
their diversity needs.
- Establish an evaluation
